GasSavingSolutions.com, who distributes the The Water Alcohol Mist System (WAM), has recently completed extended testing of the 1999 Chevrolet Suburban 1500, 2wd, 350 CI (5.7 L), throttle bodied injection and automatic transmission. The WAM System was installed three months ago. the MPG for this vehicle has been monitored using a ScanGuage II.
Most of the driving for this vehicle is in traffic with maximum speeds of 55 MPH. Typical speeds are 35 to 45 MPH with this speed being maintained for an average of 5 minutes, before a traffic stop. The longest at speed distance was 8 miles. The suburban achieved 17.8 MPG on average for this test. MPG prior to installation of the WAM system was 10 to 11 MPG. One extened trip of 255 miles on the Interstate with top speeds of 70 MPH, yielded an average fuel consumption of 18.4 MPG. Not bad for a V8 SUV with 135,000 miles.
